St Benet's School for Peace
The school in the Congo was built by The Sisters of St. Joseph
and it opened in September, 2005 for nursery age children (4 to 6 years old). The population of the
village of
Chamalale has increased following an influx of refugee families due to the war and
until the school opened, about 1,500 children had no local access to any education.
The school is twinned with St. Benet's Catholic primary school and most of the fund-raising for the school
has taken place in Beccles although more funding is needed.

Childrens Charities
East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH)
East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) is a registered charity (1069284) which exists to maximise the quality of life for local life-limited children and their families.
The charity operates three hospice services in the region - at Milton in Cambridgeshire, Quidenham in Norfolk and Ipswich in Suffolk, as well as providing community-based care and support. No charge is made to those using its services.
In 2006/2007 alone it will cost around £4m to run the hospices, with only 10% of income coming through government or statutory sources.
Fundraising and the goodwill of the public are vital.
